Myanmar President U Thein Sein held discussions with visiting Prime Minister of Timor-Leste Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao in Nay Pyi Taw Thursday, sources with the President's Office said.
Gusmao, who is also minister of defense and security, arrived in the new capital Wednesday evening on his first goodwill visit to Myanmar.
Their discussions covered bilateral ties and promotion of cooperation between the two countries in energy, agriculture and tourism as well as regional cooperation, the sources said.
The two leaders also exchanged views on settlement of conflicts, state building and democratic transition, the sources added.
Timor-Leste established diplomatic relations with Myanmar in September 2006. It has embassy based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
