Myanmar and China on Monday launched cooperation project regarding the Opening and Closing Ceremony of the 27th Southeast Asian Games to be hosted by Myanmar in December this year.
The launching ceremony on cooperation project held in Nay Pyi Taw was attended by Minister of Culture U Aye Myint Kyu, Deputy Minister of Sports U Zaw Win, Deputy Minister of Information U Paik Htway, Director General of Chinese Ministry of Culture Zhang Aiping, Cultural Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Myanmar Wang Ruiqing as well as President of China Arts and Entertainment Group (CAEG) Zhang Yu.
Such event will help foster friendship between Myanmar and China, U Aye Myint Kyu said, adding that the authorities concerned are making all-out efforts for successful holding of the 27th SEA Games in line with international standard.
Zhang Aiping said that the event would serve as a bridge of cultural exchanges between China and Myanmar and would help promote Sino-Myanmar friendly relationship in the future.
The aid scheme includes sending 28 well-experienced Chinese coaches to conduct training for Myanmar athletes, dispatching over 200 selected Myanmar athletes to China for joint-training, providing technical assistance and system management.
Wuhan, Changsha, Kunming are selected as sports training bases in China, providing well-experienced coaches, fine equipment and excellent training condition for Myanmar athletes.
The 27th SEA Games will be held in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay and Ngwesaung beach from Dec. 11 to 22 and a total of 1, 557 medals -- 460 gold, 460 silver and 637 bronze -- will be awarded to outstanding athletes at the games.
