Myanmar to hold pre-SEA Games traditional boat race

Myanmar will hold pre-Southeast Asian (SEA) Games traditional boat race at Ngalite Dam in Nay Pyi Taw, the new capital of Myanmar, next month, according to sports circle Thursday.

Scheduled for Oct. 6, a total of six categories will be included in the traditional boat race and the race will be joined by boat racing teams from Thailand, Cambodia and host Myanmar.

Selected Myanmar boat racing team formed with 96 tentatively selected athletes are undergoing camp trainings and seeking international experience abroad in hope of grabbing more golds in the 27th Southeast Asian Games to be hosted by Myanmar in December this year.

Myanmar boat racers bagged most medals for Myanmar in 26th SEA Games in Indonesia in 2011 with 10 gold, six silver and three bronze.
