Daw Aye Mara Thar, Marketing and Public Relations Officer of the Myanmar Airways International (MAI) told Mizzima that they will provide special flights from September onwards to cater to tourists and athletes traveling across Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Daw where the SEA Games will be held.
“We are trying our best to help sportsmen during the SEA Games”, said Daw Aye Mara Thar.
MAI has arranged 9 Airbuses to be used during the SEA Games. Each Airbus has a capacity of 180 passengers and the Airbuses will fly once or twice a day as per requirements.
MAI Airbuses will not fly to the fourth venue of the SEA Games, Pathein, as it will be difficult for the Airbuses to land in the smaller Pathein airport.
Daw Aye Mara Thar explained that the ticket prices will be different for SEA Games sportsmen and spectators. The price of the tickets are yet to be announced.
MAI operates local and international flights. They also provide charter flights from Yangon and Mandalay to international airports in Japan.
